Worship

Our campus ministry is centered around our weekly worship service that meets on Wednesdays at 8pm—Come early, meet new people and grab a T-shirt! It’s a contemporary service with a live band, so feel free to wear whatever you feel comfortable in. We’re a judgement free zone, so if you need to show up in pajamas, we’ll support that decision.

At Merge we strive to be a place where students feel that they can belong. We want everyone to feel safe and loved because college is hard, and sometimes you just need a place where everyone is accepting of who you are.

We also want to be a place where students can question what they believe. Faith grows when we share it with others, so asking other people questions about what they believe could help you decide what you believe. But just a fair warning, sometimes you’ll ask one question and walk away with more questions and very few answers. People should get to decide for themselves what they believe, and so we strive to never force our beliefs onto you.

Lastly, we hope our services lead students to become the person God is calling them to be. Everybody experiences a call, and we hope that students are more open to hearing it at our worship services.

We worship in the downstairs Merge space of Normal First United Methodist Church (located at 211 N School St.). Our doors are located on either the back entrance by the Bowling and Billiards Center, or on the side of the building facing the Quad. If you can see our Come As You Are sign, you’re headed in the right direction.

Our sermons aim to promote critical thinking about our beliefs and how we can live out our faith in our everyday lives. We celebrate communion every week at Merge and we practice an open table, so anyone can receive it no matter their denomination or where they are in their faith journey—EVERYONE is welcome, so bring a friend, dress casual, and enjoy our awesome music! We can’t wait to see you!
